Mike started in software testing in 1988 after completing a PhD in Math, moving to semiconductor Design Verification (DV) in 1994, verifying designs (on Silicon and FPGA) going into commercial and safety-related sectors such as mobile phones, automotive, comms, cloud/data servers, and Artificial Intelligence. Mike built and managed state-of-the-art DV teams inside several companies, specialising in CPU verification.

Mike founded and grew a DV services company to 450+ engineers globally, successfully delivering services and solutions to over 50+ clients . The company was acquired by Tessolve Semiconductors in 2020 and Mike worked at Tessolve as SVP.

Mike started Alpinum in April 2025 to deliver a range of start-of-the art industry solutions.

Efrain Gaxiola Sosa was born in Yucatán, Mexico. He currently works as an associate engineer on the technical staff at Silicon Labs, leading the development of infrastructure and automated testing to support the new generation of “Systems on Chip” for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Before this, Efraín held various technical leadership roles at Silicon Labs, focusing on automotive TV and radio tuners. During his graduate studies, he worked for Texas Instruments and Biotronik, specializing in design and systems.

In 2012, he was awarded the State Youth Prize by the State of Yucatán in the Academia category. He has published articles in various peer-reviewed journals, is a contributor on the yearly Technical Symposium at Silicon Labs, where has received the best paper award in several occasion and is the primary author of a patent in automotive applications.

He received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering with a focus on Telecommunications from the Instituto Tecnológico de Mérida, where he was recognized as Distinguished Engineer in June 2024.

General Manager for Alpinum Consulting, and oversees multiple areas of Alpinum from marketing, events, recruitment to project management.
